Thanksgiving

This year's Thanksgiving was planned with the idea of escaping our home while the wood floors were refinished. This all started the Saturday before with sanding for 2 days and then 3 coats of varnish finishing on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We were happy to leave for several reasons, one being the smell of varnish, no furniture and the lack of access to our bedrooms and kitchen. We were also anxious to spend time with the kids, Brady, Tyson, Devin in our vacation home in St. George. We left on Monday evening and traveled to Utah, staying with some good friends, Cliff and Roselynn Reed. We thought maybe we would leave mid morning after Brady completed some school work but found it necessary to help Roselynn tidy her laundry room while Eric vacuumed her entire home just to give her a boost. She has completed all her treatments of chemo but now has some side affects of numbness and tinkling in her feet. She has to lie down often and for long periods of time to relieve the pain. Her energy is very low and feels overwhelmed with all she needs to do. Losing her hair and putting on weight is also frustrating and difficult to deal with. Her and Cliff have invested in a cabin up in the Heber canyon to rent and have been doing some remodeling. She also needed help with loading and hauling stuff to the cabin. It was good to have the energy and drive to help and wished I was closer but will return some day soon to give her a lift. While waiting for Tyson to travel from Idaho, we went to the Bee movie and then began out journey arriving around midnight. It was so good to return to this nice, peaceful, relaxing home in St. George.

The next morning we lounged around and then off to the golf course for 9 holes. The weather was cool but bearable until the last 3 holes and then blankets were in order and some quick drives and putts. Tyson was successful in securing 50 balls from the river bed and kept me laughing as he searched them out and then chucked them up and out onto the greens. I quickly scurried to gather them up into the cart hoping no one was watching. Funny boy Tyson. Thanksgiving day was filled with exercising, playing tennis and swimming at the rec. center we have free access too with out Coral Canyon home. Friday was our hard hike in Zion's up to Angels Landing. Eric and I stopped when the only way up was climbing with the aid on a thick, wide chain. It was a hard 4 hour steep climb and I longed for my horses like the good ole days in Newdale, Id. That evening we were visited my Quinn and 4 friends returning from their Mexico, San Diego trip. This will be a memorable holiday and I will miss these days with just our children on family vacations. I just hope they find companions who enjoy being with our family like we do. I treasure our vacation time together.

Who would have known what an eventful Thanksgiving you had?! Just seeing you in the halls at school doesn't tell the whole story. Thanks for sharing on your blog.
